# Deactivate a user

> Remove a user's access to ION without deleting their history or records.

Deactivating a user revokes their ability to log in to ION. Their account, activity history, and any records they created are preserved.

## Deactivate a user

1. In ION, go to **Settings > Builders**.
2. On the user's row, click the actions menu (three dots).
3. Click **Deactivate User**.

The user can no longer log in. They remain visible in the **Builders** list with a deactivated status.

## Reactivate a user

1. In ION, go to **Settings > Builders**.
2. On the user's row, click the actions menu (three dots).
3. Click **Activate User**. The user can log in again and their status changes to active in the Builders list.
