# Run steps at a work center

> Work a queue of open run steps for a single work center, completing them in sequence and delivering each to its next location.

Working at a work center lets you process a queue of open run steps in one place rather than jumping between individual runs. From the **Runs** page, open the **Workcenter** shortcut card and pick a work center. ION opens the work center workspace, showing every open run step for that location grouped into queue sections.

## Step queue

The queue groups the work center's run steps into collapsible sections:

* **Overdue**: steps past their scheduled end.
* **Now**: steps you (or someone) are currently checked into.
* **Next**: ready, unblocked steps to pick up next.
* **Blocked**: steps waiting on a dependency or other blocker.

Select a step to open it in the center pane. The step header, the linked inventory card if any, and the work instructions appear there.

## Work a step

For fields, measurements, build requirements, sign-off fields, and failure paths, see [Run a step](/build-hardware/runs-and-execution/step-execution). The same action buttons apply here: **Start / Check In**, **Check In**, **Check Out**, **Complete**, and **Create Issue**.

The action bar shows the step's location, which you can change with the location picker. Use the arrow next to it to switch lenses: **View in Run** jumps to the same step inside its run, so you can see where it sits in the full sequence.
