# Scrap inventory

> Scrap inventory directly to make it unavailable for use, including partial quantities.

This page covers scrapping inventory directly. To scrap inventory as the resolution of a quality issue, see [Scrap inventory from an issue](/track-quality/issues/scrap-inventory).

## Scrap from the inventory page

On the **Inventories** page, edit the **Scrap Quantity** column for the record. This column is hidden by default. To show it, open the column toggles and turn on **Scrap Quantity** first.

* Marking the entire quantity as scrapped changes the line's status to **Scrapped**.
* Marking part of the quantity as scrapped splits the record, creating a new line for the scrapped quantity.

## Scrap with the Adjust action

On the **Inventories** page, open the row's **Actions** menu and select **Adjust**. Enter the amount in the **Quantity to Scrap** field, then submit.

## Scrap on uninstall

When you know inventory will be scrapped as you remove it, scrap it as you uninstall: select the quantity to uninstall, check **Scrap item**, and submit.
