ION notifies you when something happens on an object you follow, such as a status change, an approval or sign-off request, or an assignment, and when someone @-mentions you in a comment. A new comment notifies you only on a run or run step you follow. Every notification appears in your in-app inbox, and you also receive it by email if you enable email notifications. A notification about your own action, such as changing the status of an object you follow or assigning something to yourself, appears in your inbox but isn’t emailed. Two kinds are emailed even when you triggered them: an import job finishing, and a notification an external system sends into ION, such as a webhook receiver’s reply.
To push notifications to external systems such as Slack or an ERP, use Webhooks to deliver ION events outside the app.
