Start a trace
- Under Part, search by part number and select the part.
- Under Inventory Instance, select the serial or lot number to trace.
- Click View aBOM Trace.
Read the trace
The trace shows the unit’s as-built tree from the top down: the selected inventory at the root, its build requirements as branches, and the installed serials and lots beneath them, recursively through every sub-assembly.- Switch between the Graph and Table views. The table adds Status, Quantity, and Completion columns per row, and build requirements show installed versus required counts.
- The Used in strip lists the parent assemblies this unit is installed in. Click a parent to re-root the trace on that assembly, which is how you answer “where did this lot end up?” for a recall or supplier escape.
- Click Search (or press Cmd+K) to find a part, serial, or lot inside the trace and focus it.
- Click any node to open its detail panel, with Overview, Runs, Quality, and Supply tabs covering the unit’s install progress, origin and installation runs, related issues, and the supplier and purchase order it was received on. View Inventory Details opens the full inventory record.
- Click Export and choose Export as CSV or Export as JSON to take the whole tree with you.
