Create a tool model
- On the Tools Library page, click Create Tool.
- Enter a Tool Number and Revision (both required).
- Optionally add a Description, one or more Subtypes, and a Maintenance Interval.
- Click Create Tool.
Categorize tools with subtypes
Add subtypes in the Subtypes field when you create a tool model or from the tool model’s detail page; type a name and select an existing subtype, or create a new one on the spot.Set a maintenance interval
Enter the maintenance interval as a list of{number}{unit} segments using this shorthand:
For example,
1d 2h 20m is an interval of 1 day, 2 hours, and 20 minutes.
Edit a tool model
Open a tool model from the Tools Library to reach its detail page. Fields in the Tool Information card edit in place and save automatically, including subtypes and any custom attributes.- To revise the model, click Create New Revision. ION creates the next revision and opens it.
- To remove the model, open the … menu and click Delete. Deletion can’t be undone.
Comment on a tool
Comments let you discuss a tool model with your team.- On the tool model, find the Comments section.
- In the Add a comment… field, type your comment. You can format the text and
@-mention a user to notify them directly. - Click Comment.
Attach files to a tool
Attach files such as images, PDFs, and STEP/STP files, up to 100 MB each.- On the tool model, find the Attachments section.
- Add a file by dragging it onto the upload area, clicking to browse, or taking a photo on a device with a camera.
When a file is attached through a file-type custom attribute, the delete dialog offers Remove from attribute (keeps the file but detaches it) and Delete permanently.
