Cycle a kanban kit

  1. Pre-assemble the kit into a container in inventory.
  2. Send it to the production line and install the parts.
  3. When the kit is empty, use Remove from Kit to de-kit the parts attached to it. To move all of the kit’s inventory to one location at once, use Stage Inventory.
  4. Set the kit’s status back to request a refill, then send the container back to the warehouse.
As the rate of installations rises, increase the inventory per kit until you reach the container’s limit, then add more kits to the cycle.
Keep at least two kits at the line-side location so one is always available for technicians while the other is refilled.
Kanban kitting is for discrete BOM-controlled parts consumed in a repeatable kit pattern. For high-velocity consumables that don’t need kit-level handling, such as fasteners, adhesives, and lubricants, see Line-side inventory instead.
