Troubleshooting

Cause: ION ignores keystrokes typed into a text field, so a scan with the cursor in a field types into the field. ION also ignores a barcode shorter than 10 characters, and a scan when the ION tab isn’t focused.Fix: Click outside the field, then scan again. On a device with a camera, you can enter a shorter barcode in the camera dialog’s Enter barcode field, which has no minimum length.
Cause: The item appears only when the browser lists a camera on the device. In the phone layout, there’s no sidebar.Fix: Connect or enable a camera. On a phone, use the home screen’s camera. See Scan on a phone.
Cause: The browser hasn’t given ION permission to use the camera.Fix: Allow camera access for ION in your browser, then click Try again.
Cause: The browser couldn’t open a camera.Fix: Connect or enable a camera, then click Try again.
Cause: Another app holds the camera.Fix: Close the other app’s camera, then click Try again. If the device has another camera, ION offers Try another camera.
Cause: The barcode doesn’t match any ION record.Fix: Check that you scanned an ION label for an existing record. For a barcode from a supplier or another system, an admin can map its format. See Scan barcodes from other systems.
Cause: The phone layout doesn’t recognize run labels.Fix: Scan the run’s label on a computer or tablet.
Cause: In the phone layout, you can scan only on the home screen, the kit queue and its kits, a location’s page, and a pick run.Fix: Go back to the home screen and scan there.
Cause: With a handheld scanner, a part scan on a run goes to the current selection, such as a selected location, when there is one.Fix: Close the scan tray to clear the selection, then scan the part again.
Cause: You scanned a part on a run with no run step selected.Fix: Select the run step, then scan the part again.
Cause: The camera dialog is waiting for an answer to its question.Fix: Answer the question in the dialog, then scan again.
