In a browser window narrower than 640 pixels, such as a phone’s, ION shows its phone layout. You can scan with the phone’s camera or with a handheld scanner, on these pages only:
  • The home screen.
  • The kit queue, and each kit you open from it.
  • A location’s page.
  • A pick run.
On any other page, a scan fails with Scanning unavailable here. A page the phone layout doesn’t support shows Best on desktop, with Back to scan to return to the home screen. The phone camera reads one label at a time: after a read, the camera closes, and you open it again for the next label. Moves and kitting happen without the questions the camera dialog asks on a computer or tablet.

Scan from the home screen

  1. On the home screen, tap Open camera, or scan with a handheld scanner.
  2. Scan a label. What happens depends on what you scanned:
    • A part: it joins the part list in the scan tray. Scan more parts, then scan a location to move them all there, or a kit to add them all to it. To move only part of a lot, lower the part’s quantity before the location scan.
    • A location: ION opens that location’s page.
    • A kit: ION asks what to do with it. Tap Pick kit to open its pick list, or scan a location to move the kit there.
A run label isn’t recognized in the phone layout.

Pick a kit

  1. On the home screen, tap Kits, then tap a kit. You can also scan the kit’s label and tap Pick kit.
  2. Tap a line that still needs parts.
  3. Under Scan item label, tap Open camera and scan the item’s label, or scan it with a handheld scanner. ION checks the part and adds it to the kit.
On a line that needs more than one unit, tap Pick with custom quantity to set the quantity yourself.

Scan on a location’s page

On a location’s page, scanning another location opens that location’s page.

Confirm a pick-run stop

On a pick run, scanning an inventory label ticks off the row it belongs to. The pick-run page has no camera in the phone layout, so scan with a handheld scanner. See Scan to confirm.
