This setting turns inventory merging on or off. It’s on by default. With it on, ION merges matching records into a single new inventory record: after you edit or move a record, and automatically after a receipt or an aBOM uninstall. With it off, ION runs none of these merges. For when merging happens and which records match, see Merge inventory. A merge after an edit or a move also depends on the user’s role. A user whose role lacks the MergePartInventoryV2 permission can still move inventory, but ION doesn’t merge it. For how to change a role’s permissions, see Manage role permissions.
Depending on your settings, your org can also have an earlier merge behavior turned on. It ignores this setting and the location’s Exclude from Inventory Merge option, and it runs for any user whose role has the MergePartInventory permission. So records can still merge after an edit or a move while this setting is off. To stop a user from merging, remove both MergePartInventory and MergePartInventoryV2 from their role.

Configure inventory merge behavior

  1. In ION, go to Settings > Supply Chain > Parts Inventory.
  2. In the Merge Inventories section, turn Merge into single new inventory on or off.
